Bringing Additional AI-powered Capabilities to Third Party Casualty Claims

Bringing Additional AI-powered Capabilities to Third Party Casualty Claims

By Greg Alling - CCC Senior Director, Casualty Product Management

Evaluating and negotiating a bodily injury liability claim is challenging and time consuming for even the most experienced casualty adjuster.

Third-party casualty claims professionals manage hundreds of claims simultaneously, each including hundreds or even thousands of pages of information containing complex medical documentation and continuous updates. Adjusters must determine if the treatment was reasonable, necessary, and causally related to the accident while also building a negotiation strategy and determining a fair settlement for all parties.

Since 2014, CCC has been helping bodily injury liability adjusters simplify and optimize their casualty claims process with our comprehensive suite of third-party casualty solutions, and with our latest acquisition of EvolutionIQ, we are taking it a step further.

We're expanding our casualty AI capabilities by bringing EvolutionIQ’s industry-leading solutions for claims guidance and medical document summarization to auto casualty claims.

The first of several planned innovations, CCC’s Injury Evaluation Solutions (IES) platform will work in concert with EvolutionIQ’s Medhub platform to further transform the third-party casualty claim process. IES assesses medical billing accuracy, expedites claims processing, identifies anomalies, and standardizes decisions through demand package organization and deduplication, best-in-class benchmarking and validation, and flags powered by carrier-configured business rules. EIQ's AI-powered medical record synthesis tool summarizes and synthesizes both structured and unstructured data, then layers on insights to inform earlier actions.

By connecting these tools, CCC Casualty can shape intelligent experiences for bodily injury adjusters by proactively providing additional insights and infusing AI into workflows. These solutions help frontline claims teams work on the right claim, at the right time, with the right resources. The tool keeps claims professionals fully in control with every piece of information surfaced by AI both traceable and auditable.

The key features and benefits of this new technology will include:

  • Efficient Medical Review for Demand Packages:Automatically extracts and synthesizes critical medical insights from extensive medical records. Helps adjusters quickly review, verify, and integrate essential medical documentation to accurately assess claims and determine the optimal strategy.
  • Actionable Insights for Auto Casualty: Designed specifically for auto casualty adjusters, emphasizing the relevant information critical to high-quality claim reviews. Supports adjusters in making precise and timely decisions under significant time constraints.
  • Advanced Tools for Navigating Complex Documents:Simplifies management of extensive medical documentation by allowing detailed searches, filtering, and parsing. Enables users to pinpoint crucial details such as provider notes, appointments, diagnoses, treatments, and prescriptions, facilitating informed and optimal claim decisions.

This tool will improve the productivity of our customers’ casualty claims teams while providing an overall smoother and more intelligent experience for everyone involved.

This new technology is expected to launch Q3 2025, with additional AI-based claims guidance products to follow.
